The autism hour in the supermarket

The autism hour in the supermarket.

It’d suit everyone
we don’t
want it too.

You drink
more
when the music
is so loud
you can’t
talk
connect.

You eat more
junk
at the cinema
when
you
feel
bombarded.

You run
around
like a headless
chicken
in the shop

panic buy

when it’s chaotic
too bring
too loud
too distracting
to think.

When it’s not autism hour.

So even
if we
create
the
calm

do we
work
on
the
human
need
to make money
from
misery.

When will you stop
telling
you
child
there
is
something
wrong with them.
Just cause they feel
Just cause they hate the supermarket
when it’s not
autism hour.

When will you stop
believing
the
professionals
who tell you so.

When will you
realise
they are
our only hope.

We are going to need
sensitive souls
who
take
it
all
in

to get
us
out
of the
mess
we are
in.
